Fabrics Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Fabrics collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes personal information across the Fabrics website, mobile apps, APIs, and related services.
1. Who we are
Fabrics is a social fashion platform operated under the Fabrics brand. For privacy inquiries, data access requests, or deletion questions, contact us at support@fabricsmedia.com or contact@fabricsmedia.com.
This policy applies to the Fabrics website at https://www.fabricsmedia.com, the Fabrics Android application package `com.fabricsmedia.app`, and related backend services hosted at https://api.fabricsmedia.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories:
- Account and profile data, including email address, username, display name, profile photo, bio, password hash, login sessions, and account preferences.
- User content and communications, including posts, comments, forum replies, wardrobes, saved items, private messages, uploads, and related metadata.
- Device, network, and usage information, including IP address, approximate location inferred from network information, device type, operating system, app version, crash signals, and feature usage events.
- Trust and safety data, including abuse reports, moderation actions, account security events, rate-limit events, audit logs, and blocked or muted account data.
- Commerce and advertising signals, including ad engagement, content impressions, and brand or product metadata associated with posts or suggestions.
- Notification and token data, including push notification registration tokens and delivery metadata needed to send notifications.
3. Information you provide directly
- When you create an account, sign in, verify your email, or update your profile.
- When you upload photos, videos, wardrobe entries, or messages.
- When you contact support, submit a report, or appeal a moderation decision.
- When you connect social login providers or use optional settings and preferences.
4. Permissions and sensitive access
Depending on the features you use, Fabrics may request access to camera, photos and media, notifications, and location while the app is in use. We use these permissions only to provide expected app functionality, such as capturing uploads, selecting media, attaching place information, and sending message or activity notifications.
If a feature involves access to personal or sensitive data outside normal user expectations, Fabrics is expected to provide an in-app disclosure and runtime permission prompt before access occurs.
5. How we use information
- Provide the core Fabrics service, including authentication, feeds, messaging, and uploads.
- Personalize recommendations, ranking, search, and discovery features.
- Secure the service, prevent fraud, detect abuse, and enforce our policies.
- Send transactional emails, push notifications, and account-related alerts.
- Measure performance, debug failures, improve product quality, and support analytics.
- Support ads and sponsored content with applicable age-based and policy-based safeguards.
- Comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect users, Fabrics, and the public.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal and sensitive user data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers that help us host infrastructure, store media, send email, deliver notifications, monitor reliability, or operate security controls.
- With other users according to your account settings and the content you choose to publish, send, or share.
- With advertisers or partners only in aggregated, de-identified, or campaign-level reporting where possible, or when you intentionally interact with sponsored content.
- With law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other third parties when required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, and platform integrity.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
7. Data retention
We retain data for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain platform security. Retention periods vary by data type:
- Active account information is retained while your account remains active.
- Content and message records are retained until deleted by you, removed under policy, or no longer required for service operation or legal/security reasons.
- Security, audit, fraud-prevention, and abuse-prevention logs may be retained longer where reasonably necessary.
- Backups may persist for a limited period after deletion before they cycle out of secure backup systems.
8. Account deletion and anonymization
You can request deletion from inside the Fabrics app through Settings, and outside the app through our public deletion page. When you request deletion, Fabrics removes or anonymizes account data associated with your profile, subject to limited retention for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and referential integrity.
In the current service implementation, some account records are anonymized into a deleted-user tombstone so existing references remain valid, while private uploaded assets tied to the account are purged. For the public deletion workflow, see Account Deletion.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and update profile information from within your account settings.
- Manage privacy, notification, personalization, and blocking preferences in-app.
- Request account deletion or contact support about data access and correction requests.
- Control device-level permissions through Android or browser settings.
- Where local law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data.
10. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS transport, access controls, secret management, audit logging, and service-level security controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Fabrics may process information in countries other than the one where you live. When we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards as required by applicable law.
12. Children
Fabrics is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable minimum age without valid authorization, we will take steps to delete that information and disable the account.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we may provide notice through the service, by email, or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of Fabrics after the updated policy takes effect means the updated policy applies to your continued use.
